Inhalt

In the 20th century Germany underwent several historical, cultural and political upheavals and transitions – from the German Empire via the Weimar Republic to the totalitarian Nazi regime. Unconditional surrender at the end of WWII finally led to the formation of two German states and the subsequent Cold War. (Re)unification and in its aftermath the ongoing process of integration, both within Germany and in a uniting Europe, have changed Germany as well.
Major political developments, together with the entailing socio-cultural changes, will be the focus of this course.
